NORTH FLORIDA

Safe Families of North Florida

Safe Families North Florida is focused on engaging communities in the Big Bend and Panhandle areas of Florida, approximately from Live Oak to Pensacola.  Our main office is located in Tallahassee, and has been since 2018, where our foundational engagement has grown with churches, volunteers, and families.

Safe Families North Florida began as a grassroots movement in 2017 to expand and extend support to families in our community. Today that has grown to over 40 churches and over 400 volunteers.  The chapter partners with many local organizations, but the parachurch organizations that first assisted with the launch remain some of our strongest partners – joining us in engaging the local church to be the light in our community. As we near our first decade of service in North Florida, we look forward to witnessing how the Lord will continue to use the people of faith in our community to keep children safe and families together to the Glory of God!

Cathy Campbell.jpg

Cathy Campbell

Chapter Director

Cathy and her husband, Rob, raised their four children in Tallahassee for the last two decades.  Being a part of the community was instrumental in their family’s health and well-being, so the mission of Safe Families resonated deeply with them.  Cathy came to Safe Families in 2020 after a career as a social worker, stay-at-home parent, and non-profit entrepreneur.  Her passion to see families served by the local church is the driving force behind her continued work with Safe Families, especially as the chapter expands to serve our rural communities.

Tammy Pulsifer.jpg

Tammy Pulsifer

Church and Community Engagement Director

Born in Tamuning Guam to the parents of foreign missionaries, Tammy got a clear picture of the needs of this world at an early age. Often working alongside her parents and seeing poverty first hand was something very common in her house growing up. It was not uncommon to have an unhoused person at the dinner table or a single mom living in her parents’ home when a need was revealed.

She moved to Tallahassee in 1998, and she and her huband Brian raised their two daughters here.  Serving in the nonprofit community gave her a passion that eventually led to her role with the  SFFC North Florida Team.

Tina Ayers

Chapter Administrator

After 30+ years in Tallahassee, where she met her husband, a Tallahassee native, and raised their three children, Tina considers Tallahassee home!  Early in 2024, she was presented with the opportunity to work with Safe Families and jumped at the chance to be a part of their mission to serve the Tallahassee community.  Her previous experience with volunteers serving and living in a community serves her well as she works with Safe Families volunteers to help them complete the application process, become approved volunteers, and begin their mission!

Shelly McNitt.jpeg

Shelly McNitt

Area Coordinator

Shelly grew up in Southern Illinois, moving to Pensacola in 2010. She realized soon after that her life calling was sharing the redeeming love of Jesus. She traveled on several foreign missions, including Romania, Guatemala, and Bangladesh. Throughout that time, she never heard the Lord calling her to a specific location. Then, in 2020 learned about Safe Families and the tragic foster care statistics in this country, and specifically in her community. That was when she knew God was calling her to be a statistic changer right where she was. With her incredible husband Brian’s support, she joined the Safe Families Florida team with determination to see lives, families, and generations in her community saved.
